Map accounts

Decide where each Xero account lands in your bluprnts forecast — map the ones you want carried across, and leave the rest deliberately unset.

Account mapping decides where each account in your chart of accounts lands in the forecast. bluprnts maps what it can confidently work out and asks you about the rest.

The panel sits below the connection card on the Accounting page, headed with a count: "92 accounts · 6 to review".

Review the ones it couldn't guess#

The panel opens on the undecided accounts only — the ones that could belong to more than one thing, so bluprnts hasn't guessed:

These could belong to more than one thing, so we have not guessed. Anything left unset is simply not carried across.

For each row you get the account code, its name, and its activity — a year's movement for a profit and loss line, or the closing balance for a balance sheet one. The activity figure is there to tell you which accounts are worth a decision: an account carrying nothing rarely deserves one.

Choose where it lands from the dropdown, which is grouped by section and only offers targets that make sense for that kind of account — a revenue line is not offered a balance sheet home.

Not decided is always the first option, and it is a valid one.

See the whole chart#

Show all switches from the undecided list to every account. From there, Hide unused drops the accounts with no activity, so you can work through the ones that matter.

Show only undecided goes back.

Select Save mapping. The button stays disabled until you have actually changed something.

What mapping affects#

Mapped accounts are what make Plan vs Actual meaningful: each account's figures are set against the forecast line you mapped it to. An unmapped cost account is not wrong, it just doesn't appear in the comparison.
