Export to PDF
Export a bluprnts report as a PDF through your browser's print dialogue — and what the watermark on some plans means for a document you're sending out.
Export in the report toolbar prints the document, which is how you save it as a PDF. The app chrome — toolbar, brief panel, section controls — is never printed; only the document itself is.
Export a report#
- Open the report.
- Select Export in the toolbar.
- In your browser's print dialogue, choose Save as PDF as the destination.
- Save.
The file is named after the report's title, so name the report before exporting rather than renaming the file afterwards.
Freeze it first, if you're sending it#
Exporting takes a snapshot of a living document. If the plan changes next week, your PDF still says what it said — but the report in your account will have moved on, and the two will disagree.
Freeze the report before exporting and both stay in step: the frozen document keeps every figure as presented on the day, and the library marks it As presented. See What a report is.
The watermark#
Plans without clean export print a bluprnts watermark on every page — "Made with bluprnts.ai", stamped several times per page so no section prints unmarked, plus a credit line in the footer.
The Export button says which you have before you print: "Print / save as PDF", or "Print / save as PDF — carries a bluprnts watermark on your plan". Upgrading removes it. See Plans.
Getting a good-looking PDF#
- Save as PDF, don't print to paper and scan. The document is laid out for it.
- Leave your browser's headers and footers switched off in the print dialogue — otherwise the page URL and date print over a document you designed.
- Use default margins. The document sets its own.
- Check the page breaks in the preview before saving; a long statement table can land awkwardly, and reordering or removing a section is the fix.
