A 10-minute tour
A ten-minute tour of bluprnts — from picking up a demo company to reading its forecast statements, runway and reports before you build your own.
This is a quick map of bluprnts — the screens you'll use and what each one is for. It takes about ten minutes, and the best way to follow along is in the live demo: demo.bluprnts.ai opens a made-up company with no sign-up and nothing to save, so you can click anything.
Down the left, bluprnts groups its screens into three ideas: the plan (what you put in), the forecast (what comes out), and what-if (versions of the plan).
Pick up a demo company#
Open demo.bluprnts.ai and choose one of the sample businesses — a café, a bike shop, a SaaS company, and more. Each one is a complete, worked forecast you can explore and change. Nothing you edit is saved or leaves your browser, so it's a safe place to poke around.
The plan — your inputs#
Under The plan you describe how the business works. These are the drivers everything else is derived from:
- Products — what you sell, and its price and unit costs.
- Sales — selling a product through a channel at a monthly volume.
- Employees — your team, modelled as roles with a fully loaded cost.
- Costs — spending that isn't a product cost or a person.
- Financing — loans and investments that fund the business.
Each has a full guide under Building your model.
The forecast — your outputs#
From those inputs, bluprnts derives the forecast and shows it a few ways:
- Overview — your headline numbers, lowest cash point and breakeven month, with a plain-English read of the plan.
- Waterfall — what drives your cash up and down each period.
- Runway — how long your cash lasts and when it runs low.
- Financials — the full profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow statement, plus ratios.
- Plan vs Actual — your forecast against real results once you connect Xero.
What-if — versions of the plan#
Under What-if you test decisions without disturbing your working plan:
- Projects — model a single initiative (a launch, a new site) inside the business and toggle it on or off. See Add a project.
- Scenarios — parallel what-if versions of the whole forecast you can compare side by side. See What scenarios are.
Reports & the assistant#
Two more things worth knowing:
- Reports turn your forecast into a polished document for investors, banks or a board — exported to PDF or shared by link. See What a report is.
- The AI assistant answers questions about your forecast and can build and adjust the model for you. See What the AI assistant can do.
Where to go next#
- What you need before you start
- Build your first forecast — build one for real.
- How forecasts are built — how the inputs become the outputs.
