Ask about your forecast

Ask the bluprnts assistant questions about your model — what runway is, why a figure moved, what a statement line means — without leaving the page you're on.

The assistant reads your model, so you can ask it about your own numbers rather than about forecasting in general. Open it with the ✦ Assistant button, type a question, and press Enter. Shift+Enter starts a new line instead of sending.

Questions it handles well#

About your figures:

  • "What's my runway?"
  • "Why did my closing balance drop in March?"
  • "Which product has the best margin?"
  • "When do we reach breakeven?"

About what you're looking at:

  • "What does 'max cash needed' mean?"
  • "Why is my balance sheet showing VAT as a liability?"
  • "What's the difference between profit and cash here?"

About what to do next:

  • "What haven't I filled in yet?"
  • "Is my gross margin healthy for a coffee business?"

Asking well#

Ask about the business, not the buttons. The assistant has your model in front of it, so "can we afford another developer?" is a better question than "how do I add an employee?" — the first gets you an answer and an offer to make the change; the second gets you instructions.

Be specific about which figure you mean. "Why is it negative?" has several answers on most screens.

It answers, and it can act#

Asking a question sometimes produces a proposed change rather than just a reply — ask whether you can afford a hire and it may offer to add them so you can see. Nothing is written until you Confirm. See What the assistant can do.

Start again#

New chat clears the conversation and starts fresh. Worth doing when you move to a different question — a long thread about pricing is not useful context for a question about VAT.

Clearing the conversation does not undo changes it has already applied. Those live in the Changes panel and are undone from there.
